The Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam is a relatively new museum as it was established in 2008, but its name is suggestive enough to understand what the museum deals with. Between the 9th and 16th centuries, Muslim scientists gave the world many gifts varying from mechanical devices to astronomical observations.

The museum is proof of breaking the stereotypes of the “lazy” East as many of the scientists listed in this museum are considered to be the first in their fields that are researched even today. The museum is located in the Gülhane Park, next to the Topkapı Palace, and presents a magnificent interior in its portal to the scientific part of the Islam world in addition to a magnificent exterior, that is the Park.
The museum is divided into 12 parts, and each part is a branch of science like Physics, Medicine, Astronomy, War Technology, and so on. Many writings of the Muslim scientists about the devices in their minds are shown as miniatures. The museum is open every day of the week, so seeing the scientific aspect of the Ottomans and the previous Muslim scientists before the Ottomans are quite easy. The objects represented in this museum are the predecessors of what we use in our daily lives, making the museum a great place to be acquainted with the past of technology, especially in the Eastern parts of the world.
The scientific discoveries presented in the Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam are mostly still accurate in today’s world. The youngest scientists of the museum date back to the 16th century, but their findings are in sync with the sciences we use today. The aim of the museum is to put these scientists in their well-deserved places.
